A general bit of blather about Pittsburgh sports and National sports.

I know, played out title, but I could'nt think of anything else. The Steelers basicly have 4 needs going into this draft, some more pressing then others, but four needs. The first and most important is offensive tackle. The second is a corner back and number 3 and 4 are longterm runningback and quarterback respectivly. So where do you go with number 11. Well if tackles Robert Gallery or Shaun Andrews are on the board you go after them. But by all accounts they will be long gone. Its been stated in the Pittsburgh media that the Steelers should take Steven Jackson of Oregon State or Kevin Jones of VTECH. WHAT??? The pick after the tackles are gone is clearly the top rated corner on the board. That should be D'Angelo Hall of VTECH. Look at what Ty Law has done for a no name New England defense. Look what Newman and Williams have done for the Cowboys. Imagine what Hall could do for the Steelers. Their will be plenty of backs available later in the draft; most notably Greg Jones and Tatum Bell not to mention Michael "The Burner" Turner. As far as trading up to get Rothelisberger or taking Phillip Rivers is concerned, no thank you. The Steelers have far to many holes to go trade draft picks and Rivers has a huge hitch in his delivery. The only acceptable situation in which a corner is selected would be if the Steelers traded down for the Patriots two first rounders. That way they could take Rivers at a more acceptable pick and still get a corner, perhaps Chris Gamble. In the second round you get your tackle perhaps Nat Dorsey from GTECH or Jacob Rivers of USC. Third Round is Tatum Bell who is a tremendous value in the third. The only knock on him is he fumbles to much. Keep an eye on Vontez Duff from Norte Dame, who was one of few to shut down Larry, as a late rounder.

i was curious to your thoughts on tehe steeler draft now that it is much closer...they seemed to have gotten their need at RB met with Staley....i still think the boys would be better off getting a corner from free agency rather than the draft, so i would go offensive line in round 1, as that is hurting for the steelers.
